Masque Macabre
Masque Macabre was an Arts University of Bournemouth production
Masque Macabre was the final production in the AUB show season and was my major project for my last year. This was a brand new original musical, set in the late 1800’s France, and connected multiple short stories by Guy de Maupassant. As it was such a large project, with most of the costumes being made for it by the costume construction students, the tutors decided to appoint multiple costume designers. Other than myself the other costume designers were Lottie Hill, Yasmin Hinton and Saffron Ratcliffe. I was in charge of some of the main characters, Monsieur Bonnin, Madame Bonnin and Madame Tellier. I also shared responsibility over the character Boule de Suif/ Rosa with other costume designer Saffron. This was an interesting challenge that improved my communication and design skills. I had responsibility over her evening wear. It was such an amazing chance to work on a musical set around the turn of the century France, which is one of my favourite historical periods.
